About the Composer
Hi. I’m Caleb. I’m a freelance percussionist, composer, educator, and producer currently based in Frisco, TX. My main musical goals involve reaching out to explore the limits of classical music and how it can interact with other genres of music in an artful capacity. A majority of my influences as a musician and composer range from post-rock and jazz to minimalism and noise production to classical and contemporary music, and beyond! I love hearing new sounds, and using sounds around me to experiment with musical ideas.
My professional concert percussion appearances include performing with the Waco Symphony and Renee Fleming, and the Arkansas Philharmonic Symphony. In 2018, I was lucky enough to visit to Carnegie Hall with a percussion quartet, performing Steve Reich’s Mallet Quartet and Aurel Hollo’s Jose/beFore John 5.I have passion for chamber percussion music, and have attended three years of chamber music festivals as a soloist and a chamber musician at the Chosen Vale Percussion Festival and the So Percussion Summer Institute.
In 2018, I helped found the Enso New Music Group, an ensemble aimed at emphasizing works by living composers; built by several professional award-winning musicians, Enso New Music seeks to expand the influence of contemporary chamber to new, exciting audiences. I continue to serve as the group’s percussionist and logistics coordinator.
