Middle Sattre is an experimental folk band led by composer, singer, and songwriter Hunter Preuger. Described by the Austin Chronicle as “an amorphous blob of a band”, we are an 8 piece outfit that frequently performs in smaller subsets. Hunter describes the project as “a way for me to work through internalized homophobia and shame leftover from growing up gay in the Mormon church”. We hold a reverence for the folk music traditions we come from but with an experimental edge: you’ll find us dragging chains across guitars, using paint brushes to generate sustain, and bowing pretty much everything in sight. In addition to drums, I play a prepared guitar with dulcimer mallets.
Middle Sattre’s debut album will be out in 2024 with singles arriving this year.
